The American Cancer Society’s Cancer Resources Center (CRC)

What does it offer to the community, and how might you participate in serving area cancer patients?
A presentation by Jean Carwile Masteller, Chair, CRC at Providence St. Mary Medical Center, 401 W. Poplar

“Having cancer is hard. Finding help shouldn’t be.”
Jean Carwile Masteller, Chair of the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Resource Center, will offer a tour of the CRC housed at Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center and will discuss what the center offers to area cancer patients, families, caregivers, and survivors.
Staffed by ACS trained volunteers, the center provides information (printed and online) about cancer; services such as wigs, hats, scarves, and makeup programs for women in treatment; resources that include lodging for those who travel to Walla Walla for treatment, and access to Susan B. Komen grants that help with gas cards for breast cancer patients who need help with transportation costs.
The ACS website offers online “I Can Cope” classes as well as social networking sites, plus much more. Jean will also provide information to those interested in volunteering once a week at the center.
